Following my recent post about receiving conference fee funding from the Elizabeth Casson Trust, I’m delighted to share another piece of good news. Thanks to the generous support of Fife Health Charity, in partnership with NHS Fife, my flights from Scotland to Bangkok and accommodation during the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) Congress 2026 are now funded.

This means I’ll be able to attend in person and present my AHP Careers Fellowship work—sharing practical insights, lessons learned, and outcomes with an international audience.

Why this support matters

For me, this funding is about more than logistics. It’s about making opportunity possible—so that work developed here at home can be tested, refined, and elevated through global dialogue. It’s about equity of access too; not everyone can self-fund international congress attendance, and charitable support helps level that playing field so ideas can travel—even when budgets can’t.

It also underscores the power of partnership. Charitable and NHS collaboration can open doors for clinicians, leaders, and innovators to learn, contribute, and bring back fresh thinking for local services. In my case, it enables me to:

  • Present my AHP Careers Fellowship work and invite constructive challenge from colleagues around the world.
  • Learn from diverse practice contexts and workforce initiatives.
  • Build connections that may translate into future collaboration, mentorship, and shared resources.
  • Bring insights home—adapting what’s relevant for our local settings, families, and teams.

Receiving this funding is more than financial assistance—it’s an endorsement of the importance of engaging with international communities, exchanging ideas, and contributing to the evolution of our profession.

About Fife Health Charity

Fife Health Charity is the official charity partner of NHS Fife and has supported the people, staff, and communities connected to NHS Fife for more than 75 years. Their focus is simple and powerful: donations made in Fife are invested back into Fife—supporting projects, equipment, environments, and initiatives that enhance health and wellbeing locally. I’m incredibly grateful that professional development and knowledge exchange are part of that vision.

Building on Elizabeth Casson Trust support

Alongside this travel and accommodation funding, I’ve also received conference fee funding from the Elizabeth Casson Trust—a grant that I’ve described as “more than financial assistance; an endorsement of engaging internationally and contributing to our profession.” Together, these awards make it possible to show up fully: to share, listen, and return with insights that can inform local practice and workforce development.

Looking ahead to WFOT 2026

I’m excited (and a little humbled) to be preparing a 12‑minute lecture that distils months of work into something clear, useful, and honest—about what worked, what didn’t, and what we’re learning about supporting AHP careers in practice. I’ll share updates as we get closer to the congress, including key takeaways I plan to bring back for colleagues, partners, and the families we serve.

Heartfelt thanks to Fife Health Charity and NHS Fife for making this possible, and to everyone who has supported this journey so far.
