Frequently Asked QuestionsFAQ's

We've tried to answer as many of the commonly asked questions about Bounce OT and our services here.

What age ranges do you work with?

All age ranges – we have worked with people as young as 2 years old, to 65 years old.

Can Social Work fund my rebound therapy sessions?

Yes, we accept funding from Social Work. We can either invoice you (if you hold the budget) or we can invoice social work direct once an agreement has been signed.

You should discuss this with your social worker first.

Can I use SDS (Self Directed Support) funding?

Yes! You can use this funding to book online, or contact us to book a specific time slot & we can follow up with an invoice for you to pay via cash or bank transfer.

Does my child/ the person I support require a diagnosis?

No, we do not require someone to have a diagnosis to access support.

How can I get my child/ the person I support involved?

It’s really easy - you can book online for both Family Fun & 1:1 rebound therapy sessions.

If you are looking for a specialist assessment from a registered Occupational Therapist please email hello@bounceot.com to check availability.

Depending where you are based, you may be able to ask a Social Worker to refer and fund sessions.

Can someone with Down’s syndrome go on the trampoline?

Yes, we will risk assess this.

Can a wheelchair user go on the trampoline?

Yes, we will risk assess this.

Can someone who has had spinal surgery still go on the trampoline?

Yes, although you will need to seek approval from the surgeon and/or Physiotherapist to help us develop a risk assessment. Usually, this will be at least 1 year after the surgery.

Do you have a hoist?

Yes

How much does it cost?

This depends on if you book Family Fun or 1:1 sessions. Also, if you are based in Forth Valley area then we might be able to reduce the cost of your sessions (subject to grant funding approval).

Do you offer any free sessions?

Yes, sometimes, although exactly who can receive fully funded and/or discounted support depends on our grant funded projects.
Please contact us to find out if you are eligible to receive any funded or discounted support – hello@bounceot.com

How do I pay for sessions?

Online by debit or credit card. If you have a Membership with us then you can pay by invoice and/or by Direct Debit.

What is rebound therapy?

The rebound therapy intervention provided by BounceOT is not a trampolining sport. In the UK, ‘Rebound Therapy’ means the therapeutic use of the trampoline. It is distinct from gymnastic trampolining.

Are rebound therapy sessions delivered by an OT?

No, we offer 2 options for therapeutic play & rebound therapy bookings:

  • Family Fun Sessions
  • 1:1 Therapeutic Play Leader Sessions

Is Rebound Therapy International Ltd the governing body of Rebound Therapy?

No. There is not one specific organisation that people must go to in order to be trained in Rebound Therapy. Therefore, there is no requirement for anyone to undergo any training or accreditation with Rebound Therapy International Ltd (which appears to trade in the UK under the name ReboundTherapy.org)

Is ‘Rebound Therapy’ a Registered Trademark?

No. Rebound Therapy is a method which has become widespread throughout the physiotherapy trade, and it is an indication used to refer to therapeutic use of a trampoline.

How long are rebound therapy sessions?

You can book the therapeutic play room for 1 hour, although you will need to leave 5-10 minutes early to allow us time to clean before the next booking arrives.

What is the difference between family fun & 1:1 sessions?

Family Fun sessions are where you get exclusive access to the therapeutic play space for up to 1 hour - you can bring up to 4 people to enjoy our autism friendly and wheelchair accessible space with specialist equipment.

There will not be BounceOT staff present to lead the activities, however, someone will be in our office next door in case of an emergency.

Please note, the on-call staff member could be a cleaner so there will not always be a Therapeutic Play Leader or Occupational Therapist onsite.

Alternatively, in 1:1 sessions you will come to see a specific member for targeted intervention.

How often can I come to sessions?

You can come as a one-off, or more regular (depending on capacity within the timetable). We often have people attend weekly or fortnightly sessions.

I want an OT in the rebound therapy session, is this possible?

Our OT support is a different service to regular rebound therapy sessions. It will depend on what you are looking for from the OT. You can speak with one of the team to help us understand what your needs, wants and/or expectations are.

Do you go into schools and run sessions?

Yes, we can do work in the community (e.g. at schools and leisure centers) - this can be for a short block, or ongoing – whatever is preferred.

For example, we have been facilitating 2 mornings per week of rebound therapy sessions at New Struan School in Alloa for over 6 years. Alternatively, some schools like Castleview Primary in Stirling typically like us to provide support for only a few weeks as part of a targeted block.

Do you go into schools and do rebound therapy training?

Yes, we offer bespoke training courses in rebound therapy for each school and/or service who would like us to train their staff.

For example - we have facilitated training for 4 people at one school in Glasgow, and 26 staff in London.

Are your services only in Stirling?

No, although, our Head Office and original therapeutic play space is in Stirling.

We have been working with schools and local charities across Central Scotland as part of new contracts or funded projects.

For example, we have been working in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, every Friday for over 2 years with PAMIS. Also, we have been delivering sessions 2x per week at New Struan School, in Alloa, for over 6 years.

Can I book online?

Is Rebound Therapy governed by British Gymnastics?

No. Rebound Therapy is the therapeutic use of the trampoline. It is distinct from gymnastic trampolining.

What is Rebound Therapy Insurance?

As rebound therapy is a method that has become widespread throughout the UK across Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Education – and there is no governing body for this activity in the UK – there is no such thing as rebound therapy insurance.

There is no requirement for BounceOT staff, or individuals trained in rebound therapy by BounceOT, to buy specific rebound therapy insurance.

What insurance does BounceOT have?

As above, there is no such thing as rebound therapy insurance in the UK. Therefore, BounceOT has other comprehensive insurances in place for Complementary Therapists and Healthcare Professionals - specifically Occupational Therapy activities.

Are BounceOT staff regulated?

Yes, all our registered Occupational Therapists are regulated by HCPC (Health Care and Professions Council) and are members of RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapists).

In addition, all staff must take a full mandatory training programme, annual refreshers, monthly supervision, and participate in regular development days.

Do you have to be trained in rebound therapy to run your own sessions?

No, not for Family Fun sessions. We have risk assessed the environment and our Safety Rules will be emailed to you when you book online.

However, yes, you will need to be trained in rebound therapy if you intend to facilitate your own sessions at your own workplace.
