Reflecting on Expanding Our Partnership with PAMIS Scotland: New Opportunities in Greater Glasgow and Clyde
At BounceOT, we’ve always been motivated by the power of inclusivity, aiming to bring positive change to families and individuals with diverse needs. This mission has led us to an exciting new chapter with PAMIS Scotland—an organization we already have the privilege of working with in Lanarkshire. Recently, our partnership has expanded into a new area of PAMIS's reach: Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC).
This new initiative was made possible through funding secured by PAMIS from the Scottish Government’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund, and it has given us the opportunity to run taster sessions for families and service users in a region that has, until now, lacked specialised services like those we offer. The potential for future collaboration is immense, and we’re thrilled to see how this will unfold throughout the rest of 2025.
Building on Existing Success in Lanarkshire
Our existing partnership with PAMIS in Lanarkshire has been a rewarding experience, one that has allowed us to refine our approach and learn from the incredible families we support. In Lanarkshire, we’ve had the privilege of offering tailored rebound therapy services. The positive outcomes we’ve seen so far have been a testament to the power of collaboration between our teams, and it has always felt like a deeply meaningful and fulfilling endeavor.
So, when the opportunity to work in a new region—GGC—came up, we were excited to bring our knowledge and experience to a different community. PAMIS has long operated nationally across Scotland, supporting individuals with Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), their families, and professionals. This new partnership is an extension of that invaluable work, expanding the reach of both PAMIS and BounceOT in a way that can truly make a difference to families who may have previously felt isolated or underserved.
Why This Expansion Matters
The families in the GGC area face challenges that are not unlike those of our Lanarkshire families, but every community has its own unique needs and dynamics. PAMIS recognised that this area had been underserved in terms of activities and support tailored to the needs of individuals with PMLD, and through their successful grant application, they’re making sure that local families now have access to the services they deserve, including 1:1 rebound therapy.
Our taster sessions, designed to introduce local families to the therapeutic use of the trampoline, offer a safe space to learn about the benefits of rebound therapy, and how to adapt sessions to each persons needs. These sessions allow families to explore this inclusive actiivty in a way that is accessible and engaging, without the pressure of committing right away. It’s an important first step in building trust and creating lasting connections with these families, who now know that they have more options for support available to them.
The positive response from these families has been overwhelming, and it’s clear that the need for these services in GGC is significant. Families have shared how beneficial it is to have access to professional support in this area, and this feedback further validates our decision to expand our collaboration with PAMIS into this new geographical area.
Looking Towards a Collaborative Future in GGC
As the taster sessions continue and we receive valuable feedback, we are hopeful that they will prove successful and lay the groundwork for future collaboration. If the sessions continue to be well received, we anticipate expanding our services and increasing our involvement in the region, creating more opportunities for families to access rebound therapy throughout 2025.
This expansion is not just about our services reaching new families; it’s about strengthening the partnership between BounceOT and PAMIS, and growing the impact of both organisations across Scotland. PAMIS’s deep understanding of the needs of individuals with PMLD, combined with our expertise in rebound therapy, creates a powerful synergy that can truly make a difference. The work we do together will ensure that individuals with PMLD across GGC are supported, empowered, and included in every aspect of society.
A Shared Vision for Inclusion and Support
Reflecting on this new chapter, it’s clear that the collaboration between PAMIS and BounceOT is rooted in a shared vision for inclusion and support. We are united in the belief that people with PMLD deserve a life that is filled with dignity, respect, and opportunities for meaningful participation in society. This new partnership in the GGC area offers a chance to extend this vision to even more families and individuals, providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive.
For us, working alongside PAMIS to expand our reach into new areas is not just about providing a service—it’s about creating a community of care that celebrates the uniqueness of each individual and ensures they have access to the support they need. Together, we can continue building a society that is more inclusive, one family at a time.
