Specialist Occupational Therapy

OT starts with a Consultation: understand needs, agree goals, and leave with recommendations—plus priority access to 1:1 OT intervention or parent‑carer coaching.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a science-based, health and social care profession regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

An Occupational Therapist (OT) helps people of all ages overcome challenges completing everyday tasks or activities – what we call ‘occupations’.

An occupation is any activity that we need, wantor like to do to live and to look after our physical and mental health, and our emotionaland spiritual wellbeing. Occupation isn’t just your job or activities of daily living.

An occupation can be self-care, washing, eating or sleeping; productive, work, study, caring or domestic activities; and leisure, playing sports, hobbies or socialising.

We’re all different and so are the occupations that matter to us. They give our lives meaning, purpose and structure.
They help shape who we are, connect us with others and help create our identity and sense of belonging.

Occupational therapists see beyond diagnoses and limitations to hopes and aspirations.

They look at relationships between the activities you do every day – your occupations – alongside the challenges you face and your environment. Then, they create a plan of goals and adjustments targeted at achieving a specific set of activities. The plan is practical, realistic and personal to you as an individual, to help you achieve the breakthroughs you need to elevate your everyday life.

This support can give people a renewed sense of purpose. It can also open up new opportunities and change the way people feel about the future.

Afterthe Consultation...

After the consultation, we share a concise report and agreed next steps, with direct access to 1:1 OT assessment & intervention or OT Coaching for Parent Carers.

1:1 OT (Direct Assessment & Intervention)

£150 per hour [inclusive of travel time & expenses for Stirling Council area]

Choose the location that suits you best. OT's can meet at your home, a community space or outdoor area, a nursery/school, a day centre, or another venue that’s convenient for you and the person you support. Please note: our therapeutic play room is often in use. If you book at our main site, your session will usually be held in our office: Office 113, Stirling Enterprise Park, FK7 7RP.

OT's typically follows The Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach. This is a client- centered treatment model that actively engages individuals in recognising, analysing, and adapting to their own performance challenges. OT's work closely with each person, observing their performance patterns and guiding them toward developing independent solutions. This goal-oriented approach helps individuals discover cognitive strategies that enhance skill acquisition and improve daily functioning across various environments, including school, home, and social settings.

OT Coaching Parent Carers (Online Assessment & Intervention)

£130 per hour [1:1 - Block Booking Discount & Group/ Peer Support Sessions Available] - Intervention & theory based on the evidence-based Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) model

This intervention is underpinned by Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC). This is a goal-oriented approach that empowers parents and carers to evaluate both their own and their child’s performance in meaningful activities and daily routines.

“OT Coaching has changed our lives [as a family]. We are all able to enjoy family time together without worrying about what challenges or barriers there might be. I feel so much more confident in coming up with coping strategies to help my child – and me!”

The OT helps the parent/carer define meaningful and personally significant goals, even those that may seem challenging or out of reach. Through collaborative performance analysis, the parent/carer is guided to envision their ideal outcome and identify existing or potential strategies to make their goals more achievable.
