Working as a Therapeutic Play Leader at Bounce OT is all about creating meaningful, play-based experiences that help children develop essential life skills. Recently, I started an HNC in Occupational Therapy (Distance Learning), and it’s already transforming the way I approach my role.

Why I Chose Distance Learning

Flexibility was key. The online format allows me to balance studying with my day-to-day responsibilities at Bounce OT. I can learn at my own pace, reflect on new concepts, and immediately apply them in practice.

How the Course Benefits My Role

1. Deeper Understanding of Occupational Therapy Principles

The HNC course gives me a strong foundation in OT theory, including human development, sensory processing, and functional independence. This knowledge helps me design play activities that are not only fun but also therapeutic and goal-oriented.

2. Evidence-Based Practice

I’m learning how to use research and best practice guidelines to inform my sessions. This means the interventions I deliver are grounded in science, ensuring better outcomes for the children and families we support.

3. Enhanced Observation and Assessment Skills

Through the course, I’ve developed sharper observation skills, which help me identify barriers to participation and adapt activities to meet individual needs. This is crucial in creating inclusive play environments.

4. Improved Communication and Collaboration

The course emphasizes teamwork and professional communication. These skills help me work more effectively with Occupational Therapists, parents, and other professionals to create holistic support plans.

5. Professional Growth and Confidence

Studying while working has boosted my confidence in my role. I feel more equipped to explain the therapeutic value of play to families and advocate for the importance of occupational therapy in everyday life.

Why This Matters for Our Clients & Families

Every new skill I gain through this course directly benefits the children and adults I work with. Whether it’s improving fine motor skills through play or supporting sensory regulation, my learning ensures that every session at Bounce OT is purposeful and impactful.
